Stephen L. Corson, M.D. graduated from Wesleyan University in 1960 and from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1964. He completed a residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in 1965 and subsequently became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology.

He has served as professor in the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson schools of medicine. His charter memberships include AAGL, SRS, SRE, ISGE and SART. He has been the past president of the AAGL. He has served as editor in chief of the Journal of Reproductive Medicine, The International Journal of Infertility and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology (JMIG, 2002-2012).He has taught laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on 5 continents. He has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has written or contributed to 60 textbooks. He has also designed numerous laparoscopy and hysteroscopy instruments and irrigation systems.
