The Teaching Your Toddler Podcast

Oct 7, 2020

Dr. Dravon James joins Teaching Your Toddler this week to talk about how moms, especially young moms learning about being a mom AND managing little ones, can keep their cool even in the chaos.

Many times, we need to reframe our expectations to find calm and happiness during the storm. Dr. James has some great ways to help ground yourself and “listen to your body” instead of letting your brain make all the decisions. Listen for her fantastic “Body Scan” exercise for decision-making.

She says “the body never lies” while our brain can easily tell us what we want to hear. She also says we can be thankful while STILL being angry and she’ll explain what that means.

She also reminds us that we are always modeling to our children regarding how we react to emotions and situations. Remember, they are ALWAYS watching and observing.

Dr. Dravon James is the founder of Everyday Peace and hosts the weekly radio show “Everyday Peace” on Unity Radio. She is also a speaker, life coach and the author of the book “Freedom Is Your Birthright.”

After spending 30 years as a pharmacist (make sure you read her book on how she discovered that career choice wasn’t a great fit), she is an inspirational speaker, author and actress including a recurring role on HBO’s “The Wire”.
