The Sandersonian Institute of Cosmere Studies

May 12, 2021

Welcome to the United Isles of America! The SICS hosts have stepped away from the Cosmere for a moment to take a look at one of Brandon's Young Adult novels: The Rithmatist! Originally intended to be a Cosmere novel, Brandon Sanderson eventually decided that he didn't want Earth, even a weird alternate version, to be part of the Cosmere. Written after Brandon decided The Liar of Partinel wasn't quite working, The Rithmatist gave him exactly the fresh new playground he needed to get the creative gears turning again. So join the SICS crew as we talk about this gem (and the sequel we're still hoping for after so many years).
