Travis Lim, a Hip Hop dancer from Vancouver, BC, now based in
Los Angeles, is eager to share his inspiring journey—a decade-long
pursuit of childhood dreams that has taken him from a small studio
in Richmond, BC, to international stages. With accomplishments
including the Golden Buzzer on Canada’s Got Talent, appearing on
NBC’s World of Dance, and a decorated competitive career on global
stages, all his achievements have given Travis the confidence to
pursue a career in Los Angeles as a professional dancer, teacher,
and touring adjudicator across North America. Travis hopes to share
his story and inspire others to chase their goals.
His dance journey began in a small Hip Hop studio in Richmond,
BC, where he spent years winning prestigious events like HipHop
International’s World Championships and becoming a 3x Gold Medalist
at the IDO World Dance Championships. At the young age of 15,
Travis hosted a Hip Hop TV series, Hip Hop with Travis Lim, on
ShawTV in Vancouver, interviewing local pioneers in the Hip Hop
community. These experiences fuelled his passion and led him to
pursue a dance education at UCLA while balancing the demands of
being a full-time student and professional dancer.
Travis’ story is not just about triumphs. After failing
countless auditions for 2012 Canada’s Got Talent, he spent a decade
preparing for this opportunity. He returned to Canada’s Got Talent
in 2022, leading his team, GRVMNT, to the Golden Buzzer and the
finale. This journey, filled with challenges like COVID
restrictions, Zoom rehearsals, and a decade of persevering through
hardship, marked the transition from his competitive career to a
professional one.
