Today on The Book Review, we have the pleasure of speaking with Hank Greeley about his latest book, CRISPR People: The Science and Ethics of Editing. Greeley is the Deane F. and Kate Edelman Johnson Professor of Law and Professor, by courtesy of Genetics at Stanford University. He specializes in ethical, legal, and social issues arising from advances in the Biosciences, particularly from genetics, neuroscience, and human stem cell research. In this podcast, Greeley discusses how he became interested in genetics, the characters that influenced his research, and the importance of the distinction between germline and non-germline genome editing. He also provides insight into the debate surrounding human germline genome editing and why it is an issue that requires much greater concern.
