A special Episode 73 of Light On Light Through -- in which I discuss my current assessment of the Prius I've been driving since September 2006, and which was the subject of Episodes 1 and 32 of this very podcast. Given the serious problems with accelerator and brake action reported for the Prius and other Toyotas, I though I'd chime in here with at least one data point: which is, although I did have a little problem with a headlight, my Prius is driving just fine.

From what I\'ve heard reported, the problem has to do with either the wireless control systems in the vehicle or the computer that controls the vehicle. These systems are more likely to break down as the vehicles age. And safety testing is based upon collisions and not the functions of modern technology.
The problem with the headlight could have been a loose wire or, what it sounds like it might have been, a loose filament in the headlight itself. Loose wires can be the hardest to track down because the problem is intermittent.
Yes, the dealer eventually thought a loose filament was the problem - thanks for the comment.
