Nov 14, 2020   Looking to continue the discussion on drumlins, RC and crew again attempt to grok the widespread shifts that would have filled the many proglacial lakes and released the catastrophic drainings across the landscapes. What was the chronology of these interrelated events, and could the time-scale be compressed from what has been figured for decades? While making repeated references to the “Missoula Floods” and the accepted story of the ice dam and ever-present strandlines, RC raises perceptive questions that will be probed as we move forward, and link the megafloods to a comprehensive continental catastrophe. We look at sites from our 2017 trip with Jerome Lesemann in south-central British Columbia, digesting his plentiful geologic knowledge and admiring the effects of the subglacial floods across the region.
