Dr. Mallett earned his Ph.D. in physics from Pennsylvania State University, where he was honored with the Graduate Assistant Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1975. A distinguished physicist, he is a member of both the American Physical Society and the National Society of Black Physicists. In recognition of his contributions to science, he was named an honorary member of the Connecticut Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2005.
