Hey, I'm Terry Brock — and I want to share something with you that genuinely changed how I use NotebookLM. Most people upload just a text transcript and call it a day.
But what if you uploaded your MP4 video AND your transcript at the same time?
That's exactly what I tried, and the difference is remarkable.
The AI doesn't just read your words anymore — it observes your energy, your tone, your body language. It captures the soul of your content.
In this video I'll show you exactly how I do it, how to work around the 200MB file limit, and how to get NotebookLM cranking out audio overviews, animated video summaries, slide decks, mind maps, infographics, and more — all from a single source.
Let's dig in!

🎯 THE TRICK I DISCOVERED — MULTIMODAL REDUNDANCY
I wasn't sure this would work. I started wondering: what happens if
I upload both the MP4 and the transcript into NotebookLM at the
same time?
So I went over to Gemini and asked. What came back blew me away. The AI doesn't just read the text anymore — it observes. It picks up on tone, inflection, body language, slide pacing, and the energy you bring to your delivery. If you're a high-energy speaker, that shows up in your output. If you've only been uploading text, the AI is basically guessing your tone — and it often comes out sounding flat or robotic. The MP4 gives it the soul of your content.
🛠️ THE 9 STUDIO OUTPUTS I ACTUALLY USE
Once your sources are loaded, the Studio panel on the right is
where the magic happens. Here's what's available:
• Audio Overview — pick from deep dive, brief, critique, or debate
format
• Slide Deck — ready-made presentation slides for PowerPoint or
Keynote
• Video Overview — a fully animated video summary with movement and
narration (this one surprised me)
• Mind Map — a visual layout of your content's key ideas (Tony
Buzan would approve!)
• Report — a solid first draft for blog posts, LinkedIn articles,
or your newsletter
• Flashcards — great for reviewing material or teaching it to
others
• Quiz — perfect for self-study or building engagement with your
audience
• Infographic — I recommend portrait or square orientation for
mobile readers
• Data Table — a structured comparison pulled straight from your
source content
🎼 BE THE CREATIVE CONDUCTOR — NOT JUST THE COPY-PASTER
This is something I feel strongly about. AI can produce content
faster and cheaper than any of us. But that's exactly why your
human voice, your personality, and your expertise matter more than
ever. My advice: copy, paste, and then customize heavily. Think of
yourself as a conductor leading an orchestra. You don't have to be
the best violin player or the best on percussion — but you know
when to bring in the brass, when to pull back, and when to let the
music breathe. That's what makes great content. Use AI as your
instrument. You stay in the conductor's chair.
