"The longest distance is the 18 inches between the head and the heart," someone once said. What they meant is that we sometimes have ideas about God and the world that keep us from having a childlike faith in our hearts. In our brains are facts about God, perhaps, but also there are blockers - like doubt, painful experiences, disappointment, and negative feelings - that keep us from trusting God in a simple and fervent way.
