Sams Disney Diary

Mar 4, 2018

Last year, 2017 marked the first Epcot Festival of Arts; a weekend event designed to showcase Disney culinary, performance and visual arts. The Figment topiary greeting guests and the art work all around World Showcase was a great touch, and the blending of Epcot history gave a contemporary feel to the festival.   To say the event was a success is an understatement. The second annual Epcot International Festival of the Arts in 2018 expanded to 7 days a week and stretched from January 12-February 19th – A perfect fit between Holidays Around the World and the always popular Flower and Garden Festival. Featuring world-class cuisine, remarkable visual art and an extraordinary lineup of live entertainment, the Festival of Arts allowed guests to experience art in action all around World Showcase. Festival of Arts is everything you love about the arts all rolled up into one salute!

Feast on artistic dishes with a delicious Disney twist at specially-created food studios. Witness the incredible talent behind Disney magic—from curated exhibits to seminars and hands-on workshops. Take in a smash-hit smorgasbord of musical performances—from local bands to Broadway stars.

From seminars and workshops like the Animation Academy hosted in the Odyssey Festival Showplace or Disney Broadway Performances at the American Gardens Theater, community art showcases, a hands-on wall mural at the Expression Section and food studios all around World Showcase, Festival of Arts has something for everyone.

While I walked around World Showcase taking pictures for The Disney Nerds Podcast, the timing was perfect to catch one of the live performances at the Epcot Fountain View Stage. Artist Stephen Fishwick, an official Disney Fine Artist, is known for using color, movement and sound in each of his paintings to create a unique style that can only be described as “Stephen Fishwick”. How long before you can tell what Disney character Stephen is painting? Thanks for watching. We’ll see you next time on SamsDisneyDiary – Congaloosh.
