When you hear the word, objectification, it's usually interpreted in a sexual way, and generally pertaining to women. Surely this happens, but it's not the only way that one human can objectify another. I see objectification happen all the time in parenting. Parents often see their children as an extension of themselves, with little regard for their child as an autonomous individual. Once objectification is happening, it is easy to justify further unkind behavior, and it snow balls from there.
Listen in, and you may be surprised by sneaky ways that your brain is objectifying your child. Often times, awareness is all that it takes to never repeat something, but never fear, I'll walk you through the whole process of how to pivot your beliefs and actions so that if you are objectifying your teen in some way, it won't ever happen again.
