Justin and Adrienne's Music Life Weekly

Jan 12, 2023

Justin and Adrienne ponder "punny" business names, and Adrienne comes up with one for a combination coffee-and-gun shop. Justin discovers long-time mentor and friend, John Kurtzweg, occupying three spots on 2002’s End-of-Year Billboard Top 100.

Justin gets shown over and over how much better he COULD be. Justin and Adrienne are baffled by their respective musical strengths (and weaknesses).

A stuffed animal named Binky does metal covers on YouTube. Justin breaks the recording process down into five steps.

Teenage Justin drives his recording engineers to insanity… and one risks losing an entire session to protect his secrets.

Adrienne is shocked and grateful that Julie Royster (bassist), Carmen Sandim (keyboardist), Amy Shelley (drummer), and Eric Wiggs (guitarist) played in her jazz band.

Adrienne plans to record five tunes in one day at Immersive Studios in Boulder… which in retrospect was not a very smart decision.

Justin wonders if the relationship between practice and improvement is causation or correlation. Adrienne tours the Loveland Elks Lodge building – under renovation by Michael Pelphrey – which is being transformed into the new music and social hub for NoCo and hopefully one of Performance High's new locations. Justin gets hassled by a venue owner for not drinking enough at his bar.

This week’s shout-out to mixing engineer and artist Bobby Selvaggio!
