In this episode we dive deep into the world of commercial services and how you can expand your influence as a leader. Having spent his entire working life at the University of Lancaster, Jo Hardman shares how being an opportunist has helped his career, why he is driven by a desire to make the people around him have a better existence and what he enjoys most about being Chair of CUBO (College & University Business Officers Association).
“In recent years that’s the thing that has changed me the most, understanding that everyone’s not like me. We all know it. It’s one of those things you know but you don’t live it. For me, it's not what you are, that's the most important. Realising that other people are something else is more important than knowing what you are.”
Jo Hardman has worked at Lancaster University for 30 years in a wide range of commercial, research and marketing roles which has helped him get under the skin of the widest possible elements of HE life. As current chair of CUBO (College & University Business Officers Association), Jo got involved in the Board as he could see an organisation that wanted to lead and help set the agenda for commercial services in the University sector.
