In this episode, we dive deep into the world of sales, what it means in the world of higher education and why as leaders we need to be comfortable selling. Having worked in hospitality sales for much of her career, Rachel shares with us some of her experiences working as Head of Sales & Marketing at Warwick Conferences and how, through her work with Academic Venue Solutions, she now wants to support colleagues across the UK, who are selling their university’s facilities for conferences and events.

“When you when you're in sales, you have to be inquisitive, you need to get to know what makes people tick, you need to understand, how to work out whether, what you've got is right for them, you've got to come up with the right solution. ABOUT RACHAEL
Rachael started out her sales career in conference centres, moving to hotels and then more latterly the academic sector, with 10 years as Head of Sales & Marketing at Warwick Conferences, part of the University of Warwick. Rachael left Warwick Conferences to start up her own business in November 2017 as RB Associates, a consultancy to help support venues with their sales strategies and now runs Academic Venue Solutions as Membership Director full time. Rachael has volunteered as Chair of the European chapter of IACC for 2 years and has recently become a Mental Health First Aider.
