We have often talked about the healing power of
music and its ability to draw us closer to God to find hope and
healing. Dancing offers another form of healing and grace to those
facing physical, mental, or spiritual hardships.
That is why we are so excited this week to talk
with Choreographer and Assistant Director of the Wings to Fly Dance
Company, Tara Young about the beauty and healing of dance. Tara
believes that everyone should have the opportunity to dance and has
worked to help those with disabilities find their "wings to fly" so
that they can experience the beauty of dance. She explains how she
has seen first hand the impact it has, not only on the children and
young adults living with these disabilities, but also the able body
performers who volunteer to help them.
Tara also talks about how the healing process
requires patience, and that when it comes to recovery, time almost
becomes suspended. However, we should not despair in this, because
all things work together for God's glory and He is with us to show
that in all things, there is hope and healing.
Who is Tara Young?
Tara Young has been involved with dance for most of her life,
traveling the world from Singapore to Japan, before returning to
the United States to pursue helping people heal through dance and
physical therapy. Tara is also an Assistant Director of The Wings
To Fly Dance Company, a nonprofit dance company that provides a
unique opportunity for integration through dance and movement with
dancers with and without disabilities.
