Episode 40: What Do You Want for Your Family?
It seems like a simple question, doesn’t it? But what you want for your family can encompass a multitude of things. It might refer to values you want your children to live by; it might suggest a career path or level of wealth and prestige; it might mean spirit and lifestyle – do you want to raise a world traveller or a poet?
What you want for you family should guide the decisions you make around finances, education, investing and much more. We all know a family that chooses a private school over a public school, parents who move to better neighbourhoods so their kids have more resources, and kids who have three tutors and a coach to guide them. There are those who emphasize emotional enrichment and experiential learning. The combinations are endless.
What I want to encourage you to do is to reflect on why you want the things you want for your kids, where these values come from, how to implement them as a parent or guardian, and whether they are a good fit for your child and your financial situation.
