Tales from BumTown: Stories of the Weird follows Dale Carver, a man who makes the mistake of exiting Riverside Drive in Watsonville and somehow winds up completely lost in a town that suddenly feels unfamiliar. With no cell phone service and only a mysterious name — Marisol Vega — found in his pocket, Dale begins wandering through side streets, strange neighborhoods, and dead-end conversations with a cryptic kid who insists you “can’t find somebody on Main Street.” The problem? There are three Marisols… and apparently three Riversides too. After chasing clues through confusion, swap meets, and the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds, Dale never does find Marisol — but he does leave with a cool jade pigeon and the uneasy feeling that maybe Watsonville wasn’t trying to help him get found in the first place.
