It's a journey through illness and history as Jenn and Lea talk with epidemiologist Wes Martin and learn a lot about scurvy: What it is, how people get it, and why it's dangerous. (The teeth really do not go back in!) But we don't stop there: We'take a historical tour of the diseases and dangers of the Age of Piracy, many of which still afflict people today, thanks in no small part to imperialism, colonialism, environmental and economic racism and other systemic inequities. (Also, an important reminder: Hey, crew, wash your hands.)
