She lives in northern Virginia as a poetry and creative writing coach, writer and teacher. She turned her cathartic activity (writing) into her purpose. She has a non-traditional motherhood journey. In 2019 her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and knowing she was going to lose one of the most important people in her life, she realized that we may or may not have “all the time in the world.” During her acute grief and a global pandemic her relationship didn’t make it through and she realized she had a huge need to be a mom. At the age of 20, she was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus which changed everything and she didn’t think she could carry a baby and also didn’t have a partner she wanted to parent with but then found out she was misdiagnosed and didn’t have a deformed uterus. She chose to consciously co-parent with a man who she didn’t think she would fall in love with but was just going to parent together but low and behold, love did happen and they live in Virginia together and found the perfect situation for them with their 5 month old little boy. She wishes she would have known how hard breastfeeding was going to be. Her second book of poetry, Mother,(v), is all about her desire to become a mom as well as other women’s stories about their journeys. You can find her at annemariewellswriter.com.
