Kyle is a strong willed parenting coach. He works with families with strong willed kids because he was a parent of SIX of those kinds of kids. He was co-parenting with his wife of 30 years but she died unexpectedly in 2021 and then he was left to parent alone. For their 30th wedding anniversary, they took a trip and that was when they decided as a couple that they needed to do more. They needed to support parents who were struggling with their own strong willed kids. Strong willed kids can be described as kids who frustrate, discourage or create worry for their future and these situations cause relationship issues and family dynamics that can make or break you. One thing they really learned was that you can’t parent them all the same because they are so different. Kyle grew up with the threat of violence, so Kyle’s wife decided they needed to have a better plan for their family dynamic. If they didn’t have that plan, Kyle says they were either going to implode or thrive. They decided they wanted it to thrive. Kyle’s wife believed in parenting through love and Kyle was a disciplinarian but after a rather frustrating situation with their non-verbal son, and praying about what he should do, he chose not to give up on his family but his wife lost faith in him as a partner and a father. After reading the Cat and the Hat, they realized they needed to have a strategy and a plan. They needed to not be focused on “winning” the argument but instead getting to a common goal together. Parenting is tough but it doesn’t have to be as tough as we make it. Make a plan, make it easier on everyone in the home!
