Suzanne Jamieson lives in Santa Monica, California and is a mom of a 9 and 12 year old. She went to school to be a performer and after being a mom, decided that chasing the audition wasn’t in the cards. She couldn’t find a lullaby album for her baby so she created her own! Her new album is called Love Is and is available wherever you stream music. The idea behind this album was the silo-ing of our country and the division and hate. The album explores what love is, different kinds of love and how to actionably show love to every part of our lives. Funneling the great ideas for kids into music, why not use music as a positive vehicle for it. She’s a DOer and she figured out what she needed and created it. She found mama circles in LA and that changed her mama journey in so many ways because she realized how important your community is for your own mental health and parenting. Her best mama moments are all the little things like having a teacher say that her child is empathetic or other fleeting moments that she savors. Her worst mama moment is something she can laugh about now but back then it was a huge issue that made her question her own mental health at the time. She wishes she would have known that this is the LOOOOONG game…in 20 years will THIS matter? Are you teaching them your values? Are you teaching them the good? Look at parenting from a broader perspective and not just should they eat that bag of chips? Showing your kids that you care about your own life too and your passions mean something too. If you stop loving yourself and pursuing the things you care about, you take away the pot of love and show your kids that you don’t matter. Self awareness is really important too.
