(03:14) Sarah began her career at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice in York. She’s been with Legend of Lancaster since 2019.
(06:45) Typically, Sarah meets people in the earliest stages of their involvement with the Legend community. She loves seeing how the residents thrive as they make friends and benefit from the programs and amenities that are available.
(09:11) When you’re someone who “loves hard,” you make true friendships and connections with people. It’s both a tremendous gift and very emotional to work with people in the latter stages of their life. But, it’s important to remember that, first and foremost, you need to be a support for the person and their friends and family.
(10:56) If needed, hospice can be provided on site in the resident’s home.
(11:51) The memory care neighborhood provides residents with independence and activities within a safe and secure environment. More structure for a resident’s activities can be arranged, as appropriate.
(14:52) It’s not unusual for a person to be reluctant to move out of their lifelong home. It's important to be honest as you help them understand the benefits of an environment such as Legend of Lancaster.
(22:03) When Sarah started at Legend of Lancaster, she was impressed by the organization’s structured approach to a compassionate philosophy that ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all of their residents.
(25:29) The approach to those in need of memory care is to meet them where they are and get to know them as a full person, which includes the creation of a memory book.
