Fran Gibbons is the senior director of development for the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The organization serves western, central, and northeastern Pennsylvania, helping people with Alzheimer's disease and all other dementias. Fran’s fundraising efforts provide support groups and educational resources while advancing crucial research and public policy initiatives.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care. Visit the chapter’s website to sign up as an individual walker or part of a team. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

(02:32) Fran works with partners, sponsors, and teams doing peer-to-peer fundraising for the Walk to End Alzheimer's events and related programs. She also works with individual constituents and groups to educate and raise awareness of all dementias.

(04:11) Fran covers about 42 counties in Pennsylvania, from Lancaster to Johnstown and all the way to the New York and Maryland borders.  

(05:15) About 76% of the funds raised stay within the community to help with support groups, train individuals to educate, and conduct local research. The organization and its partners also provide resources and services for those living with any of the dementias. 

(11:24) If a family member is starting to show signs of dementia or receives a diagnosis, visit the Alzheimer’s Association website. Better yet, call the helpline at (800) 272-3900. Care consultations are available in over 200 languages. The master consultants can provide a variety of services and also put callers in touch with attorneys and other local professionals and resources.

(14:54) Members of the PA chapter team are happy to meet with folks out in the community. The team supports people and caregivers dealing with all types of dementia.
