Underdog Leadership

Aug 4, 2022

This one goes out for the small fundraising shops out there. Sandra Pedersen tells her journey from a Fortune 500 company sales rep to becoming the only fundraiser in a local women’s shelter. Here’s her underdog story: how she brought her annual dollars raised from $90,000 to $520,000 over three years, how she believes that donors and great stewardship are the keys to sustainable fundraising, and where she is going next.

Sandra is a Chavender Small Shop Client Success story.

This is an episode to inspire, to remember that the journey is worth it, and that it is always possible to find good people when you need them post.

Sandra beautifully articulates the impact of the gift and the importance of focusing on the impact, and not the value of the gift itself. Money allows mission to grow and thrive.

“The core of fundraising is your donors, your people. That’s what gets me excited. I want them to feel really good about the donation and to share with their friends about the impact and the story.  – Sandra Pedersen
