Training in martial arts like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Judo,
wrestling, & Muay Thai is my outlet for improving my mental health
and becoming a better person.
On this twelvth episode of the podcast, I interview Ryan Ford. Ryan
is a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the #1 podcaster in the
BJJ industry. He hosts the BJJ Fanatics Podcast (formerly known as
the Grappling Central Podcast). He has sat down and chatted with
the greatest grapplers and martial artists in the world over the
course of doing his show. Ryan is an expert in the Jiu-Jitsu world
who has also struggled with OCD throughout the course of his
life.
On this episode, we discuss how Ryan uses Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
training to cope with his OCD. He breaks down how keeping notes for
his training helps him organize his brain and achieve internal
peace. We dive into how BJJ and martial arts training helps a
person improve their life.
Ryan talks about the importance of viewing OCD as a super power and
viewing all the ways it benefits his life as a major advantage -
vs. a disability.
