Follow Jason on Locals! _____ America is a land of consumers. Our culture is focused on consumption, whether it be shoes or cars or Netflix or football or political programming. All of this consumption has made us soft. If you're a net consumer -- someone who consumes more than you produce -- you're ultimately controlled by whomever is doing the producing. In fact, you can see this in the debate over the next COVID stimulus package. Because most people are helpless consumers, politicians are just focused on ways they can fabricate money to put in people's pockets. If they can buy you off for just a little longer, they can enrich themselves just a little more.
