JEiE Behind the Pages

Jan 4, 2023

On this episode of Behind the Pages, we talk to Flora Cohen about the lived experiences of adolescent boys and girls from Iraq who have resettled in Texas and Virginia, the importance of addressing harmful gender and racial and ethnic stereotyping, and the development of inclusive programming that addresses patterns of discrimination and promotes gender equality.

Flora Cohen, Sarah R. Meyer, Ilana Seff, Cyril Bennouna, Carine Allaf, and Lindsay Stark are co-authors of the research article, “Intersectionality: Experiences of Gender Socialization and Racialization for Iraqi Students Resettled in the United States,” which was published in JEiE Vol. 8, No. 2 – Special Issue on Gender and Education in Emergencies (June 2022).

Behind the Pages is the podcast of the Journal on Education in Emergencies (JEiE). For more information about JEiE, and to read all JEiE issues free of charge, visit inee.org/journal.
