On this week's episode of The Disruption Podcast, we talk with
our guest about the value of community, how to feel confident in
yourself when you aren't supported by the people around you, and
why the five people you keep closest to you should be the most
influential in your life!
This week's guest is Debbie Phillips! Debbie is the inspiring
founder of Women on Fire®, and also an author, coach, and
podcaster. A pioneer in the field of executive and life coaching,
Debbie founded Women on Fire in 2003 as a membership community to
extend inspiration, strategies, and support for women’s successes.
She’s conducted more than 125 interviews with inspiring women
ranging from Gloria Steinem and Vanessa Williams to Carly Simon and
Judy Blume.
As an author and podcaster, Debbie’s credits include the two-book
series Women on Fire: 20 Inspiring Women Share Their Life Secrets
(and Save You Years of Struggle!). Most recently, she is jumping
into the podcasting world to co-host the podcast “Secrets of the
Better Halves”, with Dan Mulhern and Markos Kounalakis, where the
focus is on how powerful couples manage life together in an
intimate partnership. Debbie also created and co-developed Vision
Day®, a strategic planning day and program that has helped
thousands of people live the lives they’ve dreamed of.
Prior to becoming a coach, she was a reporter for the Columbus
(Ohio) Citizen-Journal; deputy press secretary to former U.S.
Senator John Glenn during his quest for the Democratic presidential
nomination; press secretary to former Ohio Governor Richard F.
Celeste; and executive-in-charge of U.S. Health Productions
Company, which featured the internationally syndicated television
health and lifestyle show “Life Choices.” Debbie has a bachelor’s
degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and a master’s
degree in public administration from The Kennedy School at Harvard
