Ohio State opened fall camp this week — and one of the biggest storylines was running back Bo Jackson NOT running with the first-team offense.
Jackson, who rushed for 1,090 yards and 6 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2025, missed all of spring practice recovering from shoulder surgery. In the Buckeyes' first practice of preseason camp, it was sophomore Isaiah West and Florida transfer Ja'Kobi Jackson taking the majority of reps behind the first-team offensive line alongside QB Julian Sayin — while Jackson ran mostly with the second-team offense.
In this video,
we break down:
- What actually happened at Ohio State's first fall camp
practice
- Is this just load management after shoulder surgery, or a real
competition for RB1?
- How Isaiah West and Ja'Kobi Jackson factor into the picture
- What this means for Ohio State's run game heading into their
September 5 opener vs. Ball State
- Where this leaves Bo Jackson's outlook for the 2026 season
Let us know in the comments — is this a real threat to Bo Jackson's starting job, or just standard fall camp caution coming off surgery?
