Episode 38 - Public Speaking with Dyslexia
What's your thoughts on Public Speaking?
Hate it!
Rather not!
Worried I will loose track of what I am saying or forget a word!
If I have too!
Yes! Great! I love public speaking!
Whatever your take on public speaking is, most people with dyslexia should be great at it, with practice, strategies for the odd mistake or challenge, and most importantly CONFIDENCE.
Yes, I am back on the Confidence picket line!
There are specific dyslexic strengths which make great public speaking. The top dyslexic strength is narrative reasoning. The ability to explain complect theories or connects is simple and easy to understand way through the power of story telling.
You may not realise it but even those dull mundane work presentations can be given new life and set you apart from average speakers through this specific dyslexic strength!
However, let's not forget that nothing with dyslexia comes without challenges.
In this episode I go through how my dyslexic strengths, with a lot of practice, has made me the public speaker I am today and how I enjoy public speaking! And I still have all the same challenges as other dyslexics. I explain how you can navigate some of these challenges in your public speaking to build your confidence. And when you have confidence, there is no stopping you!
