You need to take responsibility for your health. Having treated celebrities and professional athletes, I know the importance of getting multiple opinions from doctors and advocating for oneself when it comes to healthcare.

One of my patients underwent carpal tunnel surgery, but it failed to work despite rehabilitation. Being proactive about their treatment, asking questions, and taking control of their health led to the patient exploring alternative methods. In my office, we explored his carpal tunnel pain and tingling and discovered it was actually coming from elsewhere in his body. With movement, we were able to solve the symptoms. 

Upon asking him if he had gotten a second opinion before going under the knife, he looked at me surprised. A common mistake people make is taking the first opinion as fact and following it. There are times when this works, but doctors make mistakes, so it is important to seek out other opinions as well to advocate for your health.

The medical system can be confusing, and it can be hard to know where to turn. That's why you should educate yourself about any medical procedure or supplement you're considering.
