I love discussing health topics you're too embarrassed to ask your doctor. It's easy to freeze up at the doctor's office and forget to ask your important questions. Known as white coat syndrome, it's when someone experiences anxiety or nervousness in a medical setting. This can raise your blood pressure and make you forget your questions.
My topic today is two questions people have asked me. First up is pelvic floor dysfunction, which can cause discomfort even in people who haven't had kids. Someone told me that every time she went to the bathroom, her tampon fell out. She was worried that she had a big vagina, but after working together, we found out that her previous exercise routine caused her pelvic floor dysfunction. Several muscles in the body are controlled by the nervous system, like those in the pelvic floor and low back. I created the Game Plan exercises to help people with pelvic floor dysfunction and low back pain.
The second question came from a man who'd been cleared by all his doctors but still had tingling and numbness in his testicles. After a full body exam, we found out his lower back caused the symptom. Once we figured out what was causing the numbness, I helped him make an exercise plan. Both problems were solved with core and pelvic floor exercises.
Sometimes it's not what we expect. You probably have a complex nervous system, so your body could send signals somewhere else. You should speak up about embarrassing questions. It's better to ask than to suffer.
