In this episode of the Emotional Eats Podcast, I’m joined by my dear friend and fellow holistic health practitioner, Jacquelyn Lovett, to talk about something more women need to be aware of—Graves’ disease and thyroid health. In previous podcast episodes, we have talked about thyroid health and Hashimoto’s disease, but not Graves’ disease. I thought it was a perfect time to highlight Graves’ and Jacquelyn.
Jacquelyn shares her powerful story of being diagnosed with this autoimmune condition and how she avoided surgery and a lifelong prescription regimen by choosing a holistic healing path instead. We want to share that path with you in case you are struggling.
We really get into the symptoms of Graves’ disease, the importance of full thyroid panels (not just TSH), and why so many women are misdiagnosed or dismissed. Jacquelyn opens up about the emotional side of her health journey, including how trauma, stress, and inflammation contributed to her illness. She also shares the tools and lifestyle changes that helped her heal, including a whole foods approach, toxin reduction, EFT tapping, breathwork, and dance.
This episode is for any woman in midlife who feels like something’s “off” but hasn’t gotten clear answers. We explore the critical connection between stress and autoimmune illness, the role of faith and community in healing, and why now is the time to start advocating for your body.
