Welcome to Episode 70 of the Emotional Eats Podcast!

In this episode of the Emotional Eats Podcast, I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with the lovely and brilliant Dr. Romie, a board-certified physician who brings together more than two decades of leadership in neurology, integrative medicine, and mindfulness.  She is also the author of “The Busy Brain Cure”.

Dr. Romie and I jump right into topics that most women over 40 can relate to—comfort food, emotional eating, and the complex relationship between hormones and stress, especially during midlife.

Dr. Romie is so relatable.  She shares her story of being raised in a culture where food was the go-to solution for every emotion.  Dr. Romie shared how these early patterns of self-medicating with food shaped her relationship with eating. As a woman in her midlife, she knows firsthand the struggles we face with emotional eating, weight gain, and menopause symptoms that seem to throw everything out of balance.

One of the highlights of our conversation was discussing comfort food. Dr. Romie emphasized the importance of keeping comfort food in our lives, not as a “cheat meal,” but as a way to honor those joyful memories tied to food.

Dr. Romie explains the concept of the “busy brain”—a state of chronic stress that disrupts our sleep, hormones, and overall well-being. Her book, “The Busy Brain Cure”, offers practical strategies to calm the busy brain, including how to integrate comfort foods in a way that supports, rather than sabotages, our health.

Whether you’re struggling with emotional eating, feeling overwhelmed by stress, or just trying to navigate the maze of menopause, this episode is packed with insights from Dr. Romie that will resonate with you and encourage you.
