Today I’m excited to be speaking with Chris Warren a professional visual artist who grew up here in Durango, Colorado and received a BFA in Film Studies from the University of Colorado Boulder. His love for the San Juan Mountains and the natural world around him has influenced his intricate murals, sculptures and 3D art which he has created based on topographical maps that serve as a blank canvas. He describes his work as “beautiful trippy brain food” and refers to himself as a “map nerd”. His work has been written up in regional and national magazines and in 2023 his art was submitted and selected to be featured on the Music in the Mountains annual poster. Chris is also Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Durango Creative District which provides resources, opportunities and funding to artists in our creative community.
