This episode I apply my understanding of "race". 
If we look at the world and try to understand phenomena through the lens of race, then we may better understand bad discrimination or unproductive racism. Then we might be able to see a bit clearer in order to make better choices.

Recent events reminded me of a thought I had a few months ago. I might have mentioned it in passing in a sermon, but here it is. "Just following orders" is not a good defense to have. It must be the case that many who know better are falling back on this defense. How sad.

With the war heating up, the hope of restored trade cools even more. If we were waiting for the government to solve our problems, we would be in a miserable way.

There's a certain "high" one gets when fighting for Justice. There's a sense of self-righteousness and moral conviction which can justify many actions which are not righteous or moral. 
This kind of behavior not only arises among political activists but obnoxious Christians. What might be that common thread?
