Underneath every client's wants is a deeper
emotional need and motivation - and it’s our job to discover and
deliver it. The problem is: many entrepreneurs don’t go deep enough
to truly discover what this is.
We ask our clients one question and forget that the
power is in the third or fourth question. It’s impossible to create
an impactful and powerful experience without knowing what truly
drives our clients.
Today, we’re joined by an entrepreneur and author who has built his
entire reputation around delivering high-value experiences that
touch people at an emotional level.
How do we go above and beyond delivering a basic service? Why do we
need to get comfortable with asking more questions?
In today’s episode, I’m joined by my co-host Renee Mueller and our
guest, author of Blue Fishing, Steve Sims. He shares some of the
most compelling stories in his book, how he went from bricklayer to
entrepreneur, how to create client experiences that make us stand
out.
Three Things You’ll Learn In This Episode
The most important decision we have to make if
we want to succeed
If we want to be better, we have to audit
who we surround ourselves with, and change the room we’re in. We
shouldn’t be looking for cheerleaders, we need people who can push
us and challenge us to be the best version of ourselves.
How to become irreplaceable
Giving our clients what they
want is the very bare minimum we should be aiming for, and the
quickest way to becoming replaceable. When we dig deep and really
get to know what makes our clients tick, we’ll be able to unearth
what they truly value and make that a part of the service we
deliver.
Why we need to ask clients “why” a minimum of 3
times
People are embarrassed about giving you an answer that
shows their vulnerability or exposing what’s really important to
them, so they’ll first give us the answer they think we want to
hear. ‘Why’ is a confrontational word that will ignite people in a
different way, and reveal their true motivations.
