GOAL! It's another Legendary Duo! Kat and Morgan get together to talk about Ted Lasso, the Apple TV+ comedy about a fish-out-of-water “football” (or soccer) coach. We talk about the third (and final?) season of the comedy and focus on the queer characters and storylines in season three. What did we think about Keely and Jack? Colin’s coming out storyline? Did the queer storylines work or did they feel rushed? And what did we think of season three overall? Join us as we travel to Richmond and chat about the queer characters in Ted Lasso. Football is life!

It's a Legendary Duo! Kat and Morgan discuss Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, a movie we both absolutely loved. We ask the question: does a movie need to have a full ending to be a movie? What does it mean to have a cliffhanger ending and how does that impact storytelling? Is it harder to find movies that aren't directly based off of IP in the theaters? We also dive into some specifics of Across the Spider-Verse, including the comics-accurate art styles and the character arcs for Miles and Gwen.

Listen up, let us tell you a story! Of the six wives of Henry VIII...and the rock songs that go with them. In the next of the Duo series, Amy and Morgan, Tudor Aficionados, analyze the hit Broadway musical SIX. Morgan, having just seen the production live, shares her experience of watching the show on stage. The hosts analyze which songs do their favorite queens justice - and which one dismally fails - as well as take an in depth look at the costumes and the inspiration for the songs in the show. Join in for a history lesson with the Legendady Ladies!

NOW, KISS. It’s the hallmark of shows like Law and Order, Castle, Bones, and more - the “will they, won’t they” romances. But the question is - are fans *actually* enjoying that romantic tension? With just Amy and Kat on this week’s episode, the hosts are split. In addition to debating why the “will they, won’t they” does or does not work for each host, the Legendary Ladies try to dive into the logistics of the trope: does this sort of romance sell more television? Does streaming lack the same tension without a promo for next week’s episode teasing a major character breakthrough? And does tiktok and social media drive tension beyond characters beyond what the networks had planned? Join us - and share your own thoughts!

As May 1st draws closer, so too does the deadline for the WGA’s (Writer’s Guild of America) contract renewal - as well as the strike that will come if an agreement is not reached. In solidarity with the writers of some of their favorite television, the Legendary Ladies invited writers Ray Utarnachitt (DC’S THE LEGENDS OF TOMORROW) and Christina Walker (CW’S THE FLASH) for a round table discussion about the ins-and-outs of the challenge facing the Guild. The conversation moves from the basics, such as how the WGA works and what a strike authorization *actually* means, to the more complex issues, such as the changing landscape of residuals in a world where streaming is the new ‘name of the game’ and how the industry shift to “micro” writing rooms creates an imbalance between the work required - and the pay received for it. Join in the fight with The Legendary Ladies and support and honor the WGA by listening, learning, and sharing the episode!
Meet the guests!
Ray Utarnachitt is a TV writer/producer. He is a Michigan native and like any good Asian student, was pre-med at the University of Michigan for 3 years. Much to his parents’ dismay, he switched tracks and graduated with a Film degree. Ray broke into the business working in production on commercials, music videos, and features. He was a writer and Executive Producer on DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW. He’s also written for PERSON OF INTEREST, THE TOMORROW PEOPLE, THE FLASH, and SUPERGIRL. He is an alumnus of the Warner Bros. Writers Workshop.
From period pieces to Sci-fi, supernatural genre to high-concept and action packed, Christina Walker’'s unique background and diverse voice has led her to staff on a wide range series and all of those rooms highlight her as true value added. Most recently her talents have put her in the high-concept and action space having worked on Seasons 7 & 8 of CW'S THE FLASH.

In the 2023 "Where Are We On TV" Report, GLAAD breaks down the current success - and losses - of LGBTQ representation in TV media. A major loss for representation in media? The cancellation of many of the CW's most diverse shows. The Legendary Ladies discuss the loss, as well as which shows still harbor queer representation, and whether or not procedurals vs genre shows carry better success rate with integrated LGBTQ+ character.

Watch out for the fungus! The Legendary Ladies dive into a post-apocalyptic Pilot Pod with The Last of Us. Amy, Kat and Morgan discuss this video game turned HBO hit series and discuss what made the pilot work and what didn’t work as well for them. Was there enough focus on Ellie? Did the first and second parts of the pilot feel conjoined enough? What makes a show a watercooler show anymore? Is there such a thing as a communal viewing experience? Also, did you know Kat is a Resident Evil bitch? All of this and more in this exciting, fungus-zombie filled Pilot Pod on The Last of Us!

The Legendary Ladies have watched the Gotham Knights pilot, and we have…thoughts. Amy, Kat, and Morgan settle in to watch give you a rundown of the CW’s newest series’ first episode. We give a basic synopsis of the plot, break down some of the characters, and answer the question - do you need to watch the series? The hosts also dive into more complex questions, like does the lack of flaws make a character hard to connect with, why did the series create an original main character, and can Riverdale meets Batwoman Take 2 make it? All this and more on this week’s episode.

The Legendary Ladies have finished season 3 of Harley Quinn - and we want to know - will it survive? And, as a point of controversy among the hosts - should it? Amy, Kat, and Morgan chat about the Valentine’s Day Special, the future of Harley Quinn in the GunnVerse, and - thanks to listener, Mark - go down a rabbit hole of whether or not oatmeal cookies are a yay or nay. The Legendary Ladies are back! Amy, Kat, and Morgan settle in to watch M3GAN and ask the questions - how does the generation we are raised in affect our appreciation of horror? Does it matter that Amy didn't really start watching horror until like...a year ago? Does M3GAN have an attraction to Gen Z? If so, where does it come from - and why? The hosts work to answer those questions and more on this week's The Legendary Ladies Podcast.

The Legendary Ladies take a trip down memory lane as they watch Teen Wolf: The Movie. Even though Amy hasn't seen a lick of the series, and three host's sat down for the *two and a half hour* movie and tried to work out a few things. Like....why have 15 years passed in Wolf World, but not our world? Why hasn't MTV learned to pay their actors fairly? And does the nostalgia of a TV show make the movie better?
