Can drones be used to save endangered wildlife from poachers?
If you asked that question of today’s guest, he’d say, it’s already happening. John Petersen is an aviator, author, professional futurist and chairman of the Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation. At the Lindbergh Foundation, he led the launch of their Air Shepherd Initiative, which funds and helps to deploy drones across southern Africa to combat acute poaching of rhinos and elephants. As we’ll hear today from John, in the past few years, more than 100,000 elephants have been killed by poachers, and drones represent the most efficient tool to deter this practice.
