Thanksgiving is all about being grateful, and at no time is this more important than in the face of the negativity, hate and division that the election result symbolizes. So far, we’ve kept to health topics, but today, Food Heals Nation, we’re going political. It’s a frightening time—the new president elect stands for racism, anti-feminism, anti-human-rights, war. Many of us no longer feel safe; we feel anxious and scared.

But we don’t have to feel this way. Suzie shares one method that works for her: the Sedona Method. Started by Lester Levenson in the 50’s, it works on the principle of letting go of negative beliefs, habits and patterns to free yourself from psychological discomfort and come back to the present moment—where we are most peaceful, and most powerful. Check out their website to learn more, or reach out to Suzie on our FB Group. We’ll dedicate an entire episode to this topic very soon!

We also introduce our fabulous new podcast producer, Foxy Roxy—a full time music producer and sound engineer, and “Trump supporters’ worst nightmare.”

What organizations and charities are you involved in? How can we be there for each other and the communities that are fighting for their voice? Let’s support one another. We want to hear your voice Food Heals Nation: share your thoughts on our FB group!

Wishing you all a happy, healthy, harmonious Thanksgiving. Be present, be mindful, and love xxx

Tired of conflicting and confusing health information? In this episode, nutritionist and fellow podcaster Alexa Schirm debunks some common health myths. Discover the truth about artificial sweeteners, and how to restore your metabolic function and balance your hormones without going on a diet!

Let’s face it, 98% of diets fail. Why? Mindset and misinformation. Diets are short term fixes based on restriction. But while we’re afraid of calories, not getting enough actually does more harm than good in the long term—so much so that today’s guest, Alexa Schirm, would rather people be overfed on the right foods than underfed on anything. But nutrition is only one part of the bigger picture that makes up perfect health. It’s also about mindset, accepting who you are, and going for your dreams.

Alexa Schirm is the force behind Simple Roots Wellness, a website dedicated to helping you find a healthy balance. With a BA in Nutrition and Masters in Health Studies, Alexa is passionate about simplifying complex matters and giving you the raw, unedited, simple truth about health and what the body needs to thrive. She’s also a fellow podcaster with her show Simple Roots Radio, where she interviews experts and everyday people on health and wellness strategies.
