When you eat the whole plant, you’re getting the whole deal. That’s why we find so many healing plants in nature. Interestingly, almost every pharmaceutical medicine has its roots in nature. But modern medicine extracts one compound and turns it into pill form (with undesirable side effects). When you eat a whole plant however, you’re getting all the other nutrients working synergistically together to heal your body. Food Heals favorites Joy and Jay are passionate about whole tonic herbs. From that passion, Jing Slingers were born.
Joy is a badass cop turned anti-aging superfood master. Jay is a yogi and tonic herbalist with over 50,000 tonic elixirs to his name. Together they create cleverly conscious comfort food that’s as good as your granny’s banana bread with the added benefits of supercharging your health all the way to your cells. (We tried their superfood caramel and can testify to this – best. Caramel. EVER).
Since they were last on the show, the Jing Slingers have been working on a tonic to rival all tonics. Most modern diseases result from a dysfunction of the mitochondria, our cells’ power-producers. These are the molecules responsible for our core life energy. But we live in concrete jungles, breathe in polluted air, are bombarded by wifi radiation, drink chemical water—our cells are overwhelmed. They need a detox tonic. Enter the DNA Detox, an aqueous zeolight solution that penetrates deep into the cells’ mitochondria and eliminates environmental toxins, heavy metals, and even BPA’s. A next level solution to the next level toxicity we are dealing with.
But that’s not all, they’ve also moved back to nature. At their retreat, Waterstone in North Carolina, you can experience life away from wifi signals, polluted air, and stress, and enjoy forest bathing, foraging, and of course, Joy and Jay’s mind-blowing culinary delights. We’ll definitely be going :-)
Marina Yanay-Triner is the soul behind Soul in the Raw, a website dedicated to helping people go vegan in a sane, healthy, and delicious way.
Marina’s journey towards a raw vegan lifestyle began when she witnessed her mom’s healing transformation. Marina’s mom had interstitial cystitis, a chronic bladder disorder that left her unable to live a normal life. Doctor after doctor prescribed pills and injections but nothing worked. Taking matters into her own hands, she went on a 28-day water fast, before transitioning to a raw vegan lifestyle. She completely healed herself.
Witnessing her mother’s amazing recovery made Marina want to reconnect with her body. In high-school, she’d been sexually assaulted by her boyfriend. This caused Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which affected her digestion and emotions. But when she got into raw plant-based food, she was able to heal her physical and emotional trauma.
Marina set up Soul in the Raw to show vegans and wannabe vegans how delicious and flavorful raw plant-based food can be. It’s not just about being vegan or gluten free, it’s about eating whole, plant-based, unprocessed, natural foods! Sign up to her online course and discover how to go vegan, improve your digestion and make delicious raw foods!
Before going vegan, Nicole Derseweh wanted to travel the world and taste every cheese imaginable. But her health was suffering. As a fitness model, her body looked healthy, but it hid a worrying truth: her high protein diet was stressing out her gall bladder and liver, and her blood pressure was through the roof. With her grandma fighting cancer, and other members of her family unwell, Nicole knew something was wrong. She began looking at her diet.
It took a year between watching her first documentary (Earthlings) to converting to 100% plant-based. The journey was tough, but it was worth it. As soon as she gave up dairy, her heath transformed. But her recovery went deeper than just the physical. Nicole had struggled with anorexia in high school. While she overcame the behaviors by becoming a fitness model, the self-loathing thoughts were still there. When she became vegan, those thoughts disappeared.
Choosing to go vegan was such an empowering and positive decision that it healed her psyche as well as her physical health. And now Nicole is dedicated to inspiring newbie and wannabe vegans with delicious plant-based food that can tempt even the most dedicated carnivore.
Check out Nicole’s YouTube channel for recipes and tutorials to veganize your dishes and live sustainably.

But her health got worse: sinusitis, colds, yeast infections, headaches, vertigo. Later, while studying health coaching, she discovered that she had a food intolerance. As soon as she eliminated allergens from her diet, all her health issues went away. Could these food intolerances have caused her ovarian failure? Kristie Reeves’s new show, Rebel Hearts, is all about empowering the rebels of this world to make a change. There’s so much negativity and wars and crime going on in the world today. But at the same time things are changing for the better. The change makers are stepping up. A wave of people making a positive difference. You can catch Kristie’s inspiring show on Universal Broadcasting Network.
You go to the doctor because you think they have the answers, but these days doctors aren’t looking at what’s causing the illness. They’re much more interested in giving you a pill. So you take the pill, then you take another pill to counteract the side effects of the first pill. But there IS another option: nutrition, acupuncture, spirituality, emotional work, changing your lifestyle. While their background differs—Suzy was brought up on green juices and vitamins, while Allison grew up eating the standard American diet—they are both passionate advocates of a plant-based diet.
Are you following your dreams? If everyone on this planet did what they wanted, the world would be such a happy place. We wouldn’t even need to compete with each other, because we all have a unique energy and unique gifts… we all have a unique soul song. Whatever you want to do, do it. If you want to sing, if you want to write, if you want to be a parent… do what brings you joy every day. That’s how we flourish.
If we can do a little thing every single day, we can change the world!
Find out about what inspired Kristie Reeves in Episode 107.
