Episode 61: Getting Started– How I Did It
Thinking about investing in property, but not sure how to begin? It’s exciting to take your first steps into the unknown, but it can also be quite daunting. In this week’s podcast, I orient you at the start of your journey by telling the story of my own, realistic beginning.
Because we’re going all the way back to the start, I’ll make reference to my first book, Using Other People's Money, How to Invest in Property. I’ll talk about the advantages of forming family partnerships when getting started in property investing and which questions to ask yourself to get the most out of your strategy. I’ll remind you to get to know your market ahead of time and to carefully consider what you’re getting yourself into. I’ll cover the ins and outs of HMOs, focusing on student and young professional housing. I’ll explain how to check in with your financial strategy down the line to ensure your path to success. And I’ll provide a window into my property investment business, built on the knowledge and lessons I’ve learned during my own journey.
And, as always, I’ll encourage you to sit down with your trusted spreadsheet and map out your strategy before taking action.
